This
is not a typical desert course, but more typical of what you would
expect to find in Arizona. Located in Mesa on Baseline Drive just
east of Power Road, Superstition Springs Golf Club has all the
elements to provide a top notch golfing experience. This Greg Nash
traditionally designed course is arguably a jewel in Arizona
layouts. This course has retained its luster despite the
tremendous development of first class golf properties in the area.
In fact, it has been recently chosen as a PGA Tour Qualifying
site. The view of the ninth hole from tee to green, with the
beautiful clubhouse and the Superstition Mountains in the
background, is still one of the best around. With slope
ratings ranging from 135 to 112, and distances measuring between
7005 and 5328, most levels of golfers will find a fair and
interesting challenge. Water hazards come into play on 11 holes,
though there is usually a way to avoid them – if you are willing
to lay-up and manage the course cautiously. For those in an
adventurous mood, there are ample risk/reward opportunities.
Bunkers abound near the greens and are frequently present on both
sides of the fairways. Willows and palm trees along with the
numerous creeks and lakes await errant shots. The conditioning at
superstition from tee to green on our visit was exceptional.
