McCormick
Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale is an award-winning facility that
provides the area with two distinctive 18-hole championship
layouts. Both designs were created in the early 70,s and have
undergone extensive “facelifts” since 1998. Among some of the
more prominent renovations are: The resurfacing of all 36 greens
with a hardier variety of grass that makes for a smoother year
round surface, the rebuilding of the majority of the bunkers on
both courses, aesthetic and structural improvements on the bridges
which link the holes on both courses, and the addition of some 25
acres of desert transition area to the 268 acres of land. The
clubhouse and pro shop have also undergone positive renovations,
helping McCormick ranch to be once again listed on the revered
list of Scottsdale area courses to be played. The overwhelming
characteristic that separates this property from many of the
courses in the area is the vast number of trees on both layouts.
Palms, Pines, oaks, eucalyptus and other species native to the
southwest total over 4,000 between the two courses. Both are
traditional layouts, with trees, water hazards and bunkers
providing the obstacles to par. There are also numerous doglegs to
challenge your shot-making ability. No forced carries over desert,
so even the novice has a chance of finishing the round with one
ball. If you are not accurate however, your ball will sit
precariously amongst the tall pines and palms that line the
fairways, often all the way to the newly remodeled putting
surfaces.
